About flemingCo

flemingCo environmental was founded in 1997 by  Flemming Hvidbak who has 24 years of experience within the oil spill industry. He has been active in oil spill clean-up operations, both off- and on-shore and has carried out numerous oil spill response training courses in five continents. He has developed several types of oil spill response equipment, which have been incorporated into the oil spill contingencies of more than 100 countries. He has planned, conducted, or participated in tests of oil spill response equipment for DESMI, for Bitor America Corporation, for LAMOR, at OHMSETT, with GPC/US Navy/US Coast Guard, and with the Canadian Coast Guard/SAIC. He has spearheaded the development of the new extreme viscosity oil pumping techniques, based on annulus ring steam or hot water injection on the inlet side of the transfer pump. He served as Lead Engineer for the Joint Viscous Oil Pumping System workshop and test in Houma, Louisiana December 2003. This was the largest and most costly test ever within the oil spill community and involved over 100 people from seven nations. Flemming holds a B.S. in mechanical engineering and management along with a marine engineer education.

flemingCo drags in associated independent oil spill response experts from case to case.

flemingCo environmental is committed to contribute to the global environment by offering equipment and process design, as well as engineering and consulting services to the oil spill market on a commercial basis.

flemingCo environmental is the operator of the International Oil Spill Resource and Information Center at  www.oil-spill-web.com

Flemming Hvidbak at DESMI 1984 - 97
From 1984 to 1997 Flemming Hvidbak was in charge of the design of DESMI’s range of oil spill equipment, among which especially the high viscosity off-loading pump DOP-250, the DESMI-250 and the DESMI-TERMINATOR vertical Archimedes’ screw skimmers, and the DESMI Mini-Max, have been distributed to - and well recognized by - the oil spill industry World wide. He has been active in oil spill clean-up operations, both off- and on-shore. He has trained contingency crews all over the world.

Flemming Hvidbak was up to ‘91 DESMI Environmental’s regional sales manager for North- and South America.

He established DESMI INC. in the USA in 1991 and was its president for the first three years, supporting the US oil spill industry in the hectic years in the aftermath of Exxon Valdez and OPA 90.

From 1993 he became the head of DESMI Environmental.

From 1995 to 1997 Flemming Hvidbak served as international project manager, responsible for DESMI’s activities within the field of on-shore remediation of oil polluted land, especially pit-cleaning. In cooperation with an Ecuadorian company, joint-venture companies were formed in Panama, Ecuador, and Venezuela. Flemming Hvidbak served as director in each of these companies. In 1996 and '97 the Ecuadorian JV successfully remediated about 100 old oil production pits for Texaco in the Ecuadorian part of the Amazon Rain Forest.

Flemming Hvidbak has made numerous presentations on how to combat oil pollution, and especially how to deal with high viscosity problems, at conferences and seminars throughout the World.
